The goal

The aim of the course is to enhance safety for employees working near electrical installations, ensuring they do not expose themselves or others to danger when working on low- and high-voltage systems.

The target group

Personnel requiring access to areas presenting electrical hazards in order to perform non-electrical work near electrical installations—for example, cleaning or general maintenance staff. The course is also relevant for personnel carrying out tasks such as lawn mowing, painting, carpentry, and other building maintenance within secured low- and high-voltage areas. Additionally, the course is suitable for electrical engineers and other staff who need access to restricted areas containing electrical hazards.

The topics covered

You cannot tell by looking at a cable, busbar, conductor, or other piece of equipment whether or not it is live; therefore, it is crucial to be aware of the hazards when working near high-voltage installations or power lines.

It is the employer's responsibility to ensure that workers are well-prepared for work involving electrical hazards—whether regarding personal protective equipment or training. The training covers: electrical hazards, organization and access control, as well as risk and behavior. The course consists of a series of videos describing the hazards associated with working near electrical equipment, the organizational structure of the facility, and the expected conduct of those moving within the site.
