First aid for electrical accidents

First aid for electrical accidents provides you with the knowledge you need to know how to act in such an accident situation. An accident can occur when you least expect it, and this course is intended to give you sufficient knowledge so that you know what to do if an electrical accident occurs. Most electrical accidents end well, but getting electricity through the body from both high and low voltage can lead to serious or life-threatening personal injuries.

Target

Increase your first aid skills in the event of injuries, accidents and electric shocks, so that you know how to act in an accident situation, and are able to provide life-saving first aid in various life-threatening situations.

Target group

Workers who work and carry out maintenance on electrical installations.

Subjects covered in the course

  • Handling and emergency assessment of the injured person
  • Stress reaction
  • CPR
  • Bleeding
  • Fracture injuries
  • Acute and chronic injuries after electrical accidents
  • First aid for electrical injuries and burns
  • Procedure in case of cardiac arrest

You will receive the necessary theoretical training to be able to perform first aid in the event of accidents caused by electric current and other accidents. In order for you to be competent to provide first aid in the event of electrical accidents, in addition to this theoretical review, you must be trained in CPR (mouth-to-mouth and cardiac compression). The course satisfies the authorities' requirement for annual theoretical training in first aid for electrical accidents, except for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). There must not be more than 12 months between each training, cf. guidance to §7 of the FSE. The course also meets guidelines from national first aid councils.
