Goals

Objectives
This course provides you with the theoretical knowledge needed to become a Certified Low-Voltage Electrician and to perform and be responsible for electrical installation work up to 1,000 V. After completing the course, you will apply to the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority, which will issue your AL Authorization.

Target Audience

This course is intended for electricians who plan to work as electrical installers ensuring regulatory compliance and for those who plan to perform their own work.

The course includes

According to the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority, the following four theoretical course modules and practical components must be included in an authorization training program:

  • Regulations and Standards – You will learn about the regulations and standards applicable to electrical installations and how to apply them.

  • Electrical Installations in Buildings – Wiring sizing for power and lighting cables, as well as “pre-commissioning inspections.”

  • Power Generation and Transmission Facilities and Industrial Installations – Electricity generation and the power transmission system from generator to consumer.

  • Electrical Machinery – This module covers electric motors and associated drive systems, as well as transformers, and you’ll learn how to size equipment based on rated data.

  • One-day practical lab—We carry out the procedures prescribed by the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority, such as pre-commissioning checks with documentation, and more.

Each module includes recorded presentations where our instructors guide you through the content, just like in a classroom. You can pause, review, and rewatch the sections as many times as you like. This gives you the freedom to learn at your own pace and makes the material easy to absorb, regardless of your study habits.

The program is continuously updated and follows the latest version of the Electrical Installation Regulations. In addition, you’ll have access to the industry’s leading software, El-vis and EasyEl, during your studies—at no extra cost.

A preparatory course is included free of charge in your program. This optional course gives you the opportunity to review math concepts through pre-recorded videos, among other things.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Prerequisites
For this program, we recommend completion of high school with an electrical engineering track or a similar program, such as BB1 or the older program known as “el-tele.”

Work experience as an electrician or electrical installer may compensate for a lack of theoretical background.

Knowledge requirements for the practical component when applying to the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority for AL Authorization Please feel free to contact us for a review of your background and prospects for successful completion of the program, with the goal of becoming a certified electrical installer.

Objectives

  • The organizational structure and functions required to work safely

  • The process of electrical safety planning and why it is important to be able to apply risk management; basic concepts for implementing safe communication and applying the four work methods: Work Without Voltage, Work With Voltage, Work Within the Immediate Area, and Work Outside the Immediate Area

  • What a routine maintenance task is and when it becomes planned work according to one of the work methods

  • The difference between a routine maintenance task and a scheduled maintenance task

  • The difference between electrical work and non-electrical work

  • How the ESA form “Instructions for Work Outside the Immediate Area” works and is used.

Regulations
