Maydan Found His Path: From SFI to Becoming an Electrician

Four years after moving to Sweden from the USA, Maydan Wildawski has not only learned a new language but also trained to become an installation electrician. Now, he stands firmly in his new profession: "I got a job immediately after my internship."

Studying to become an electrician has given 35-year-old Maydan from Uppsala a chance for a new career. He moved to Sweden from the USA four years ago, and after completing his SFI studies, it was time to find a vocational training program. He chose Trainor's distance learning program for installation electricians.

"I enjoyed the training immensely. The most rewarding part for me was the ability to study at my own pace and to repeat the practical elements I found challenging. Studying from home and traveling to Sundsvall for the lab sessions was no problem at all, it was both educational and fun," says Maydan.

"My advice to others considering studying to become an electrician is: Do it!"

Well Prepared for Work

During his studies, he appreciated that Trainor's educational platform made it easy for him to navigate through his studies. The course structure and the theoretical parts matched the practical elements, and he felt well prepared when it was time to test his knowledge during the final internship.

"Thanks to my commitment to the training, it has prepared me well for entering the job market. I got a job immediately after the internship at the same place where I did my internship. Now, my goal is to complete the apprenticeship period and obtain my ECY certificate," says Maydan.

Varied Profession

Now that he has entered the workforce, he finds his new profession both varied and interesting.

"Time flies when you work because it is so enjoyable, and there is always something new to learn. My advice to others considering studying to become an electrician is: Do it! And make the most of the lab weeks; they are very educational."
