Learning objectives

The course provides you with the theoretical knowledge required to become an Authorised Electrical Installer for low voltage and to carry out and take responsibility for electrical installation work in low‑voltage systems up to 1000 V.

After completing the course, you apply for Authorisation AL with the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority (Elsäkerhetsverket).

Target group

The course is aimed at electricians who intend to work as an Electrical Installer for Compliance, as well as those who plan to carry out electrical installation work independently.

Course content

According to the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority, an authorisation programme must include the following four theoretical modules and practical elements:

  • Rules and standards – You will learn which regulations and standards apply to electrical installations and how to use them in practice.
  • Electrical installations in buildings – Cable sizing for power and lighting installations, as well as verification prior to commissioning.
  • Power generation, transmission and industrial installations – Electrical power production and transmission systems from generator to end user.
  • Electrical machines – Covers electric motors with associated drive systems and transformers, including equipment sizing based on rated data.
  • One day of practical training – Includes mandatory elements such as verification prior to commissioning with documentation, in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Each module includes recorded presentations in which our instructors guide you through the content, just like in a classroom. You can pause, repeat, and revisit the material as often as you like, allowing you to study at your own pace, regardless of previous study experience.

The course is continuously updated and follows the latest edition of the Electrical Installation Regulations. You will also have free access to the industry‑leading tools El‑Vis and EasyEl during your studies.

A preparatory course is included at no extra cost. This optional course allows you to revise areas such as mathematics, using recorded instructional videos.

Entry requirements

Completion of an upper secondary electrical engineering programme, or equivalent qualifications such as BB1 or the former El‑Tele programme, is recommended.

Professional experience as an electrician or electrical installer may compensate for a lack of formal theoretical qualifications.

There are also specific knowledge requirements for the practical experience component when applying for Authorisation AL with the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority.

Feel free to contact us for a review of your background and prerequisites, and for guidance on how to successfully reach your goal of becoming an Authorised Electrical Installer.
